J-Town Community TV is hosting the timely film, One Fighting Irishman: The Wayne Collins Story at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin. Wayne Collins was the legendary barrister who represented more than 5,700 Japanese Americans during and after WWII.

After the film, a distinguished panel will discuss the events in 1942 as well as today's agenda for resisting and renewing our commitment to serving our communities. Panelists include: Sharon Yamato, filmmaker and a
uthor, Hiroshi Shimizu, head of the Tule Lake Committee and from a family of renunciants, and Sadako Kashiwagi, daughter of renunciants and from a family of activists. Will Kaku, Nihonmachi Outreach Committee, and Susan Hayase, co-founder of San Jose Nikkei Resisters, will bring us up-to-date with information and ideas for organizing our communities. Local community activist and retired educator Vickie Taketa will moderate.

The event is a fundraiser for the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin's Dharma Education Center.
